Short Riga Looking for entries

A new short film and music video competition – entitled Short Riga – will happen in Riga, Latvia during the Riga International Film Festival (Riga IFF) between October 15-25, 2015.

The new festival is currently accepting submissions in three categories: International Shorts, Baltic Student Short Film Competition and Baltic Music Video Competition.

Short Riga believes that a short film is the natural habitat for the contemporary avant-garde in cinema. It is a format through which the filmmaker explores and experiments. When selecting films for the competitions, they want to see the filmmaker's search for fresh stories and images, see them questioning the contemporary trends of cinema or the concept of cinema itself. A short film of any budget or quality will be considered as long as the selection committee will see something that is unforgettable and pushes the existing boundaries of cinema as an art and communication form.

Short Riga will accept films no longer than 30 minutes though no further genre or content restrictions apply.

The guidelines for submission and the submission form can be found HERE. Further questions can be addressed to shortriga@rigaiff.lv

The application deadline: May 31, 2015, but for Baltic Student Short Film Competition the deadline is extended until July 1.
