Rated SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York opens its call for entries
The Rated SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York opens its call for entries for the 2nd annual edition following a hugely successful inauguration in 2014 with 55 films from 18 countries. The festival takes place March 2015, at the Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village, New York City.
Covering a wide range of socially relevant issues, the festival selects films and feature film scripts that deal with: the Environment, Racial Discrimination, Immigration, Gender issues, LGBT, Child/Teen Issues, Education, Global Health, Poverty, Unemployment, Business Greed, Undocumented Populations, War and Conflict aftermaths, Climate Change, to name a few, in the competition categories. In addition the festival has Spotlight Screenings that include: 100 Years of Genocide and Spotlight on Women Filmmakers of the Middle East. Films are accepted
in the Short, Documentary and Feature (doc and narrative) categories. Scripts are accepted only in narrative feature.
The Grand Prize is a weeklong, allencompassing run, at The Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village for the winning feature film (doc or fiction) courtesy of the Quadflix Select program. A DVDVOD release, courtesy of Cinema Libre Studio is offered to the winning documentary. And 67 curated titles from the shorts in the festival are offered digital distribution by IndiePix. Additional prizes include inkind offers, as well as special category/thematic awards such as: Empowering Women and Girls, Social Justice and more. Filmmakers selected in the Socially Relevant Film Festival NY get further exposure in such partner festivals as Cannes and Paris.
