Sundance announces short film programme
The Sundance Film Festival has unveiled the 72 shorts it will screen at its 2016 edition, held between January 21-31 in Park City, Utah. Alongside screenings for US and International narrative shorts, Sundance shorts will also be packaged in the festival’s Midnight and New Frontier stands.
A number of well-established festival hits the most prominent of which will be Jörn Threlfall’s Over, the powerful deconstruction of a crime scene that has won awards at the likes of Palm Springs, Encounters and many others. There are more award winners in the delicate Croatian film Belladonna – the winner at this year’s Venice Film Festival – while Lebanese animation Waves ’98 was the winner of Palme D’or for Best Short at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. French film Maman(s), fresh off a Grand Prix win at this year’s Leuven Short Film Festival, will also be screened while British Cannes entry Rate Me, by Fyzal Boulifa will also continue its run of success.
