Awarded Croatian shorts available online for Women's Day Weekend
The Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) will have available for streaming four award-winning short films dealing with romantic relationships on its website for International Women's Day Weekend on 7 and 8 March.
In Ivan Sikavica's So Not You a young babysitter and her boyfriend, after putting the child to bed, start playing ‘mommy and daddy’ in front of a home camera. In 2014 the film won Best Short Film Diploma at Pula Film Festival and Golden Pram in the Checkers competition at the Zagreb Film Festival.
Sonja Tarokić's 2011 film You Bitch! portrays two friends on holidays: Marta is trying to get over a breakup and Lana embarks on a new adventure, which she will use to engage in a subtle emotional power-play with her best friend. The film screened at 14 international festivals, including the Cannes Short Film Corner, and won the Bronze Medal in the Film School Competition at the UNICA World Amateur Film Festival.
Tanja Golić’s 41-minute film By Chance (2014, pictured above) fuses documentary and live action footage to focus on two ex-lovers who meet after several years of separation and start analysing the lives they have built in the meantime. It won Best Short Film at Days of Croatian Film, Best Screenplay at PriFilmFest and Best Screenplay and Best Director at La Cabina International Medium-length Film Festival in Valencia.
Finally, Chill by Hana Jušić is the ultimate film about the guilty pleasures of farewell sex when two people who used to be close go back to where they were – at least for a while. It competed at 12 international festivals including Oberhausen and Fantasporto and was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner.
The films will be available on HAVC’s website from Saturday, 7 March, to Sunday, 8 March at midnight.
