Home wins Short Of The Year

The Short Film Conference – the network of short film festivals from across the world – has revealed which film its members have voted for as Short Of The Year for 2016.

Awarded at the SFC’s annual event at last week’s Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the Short Of The Year sees short film festivals from across the globe choose their favourite short films of the past year. This year’s nominee list include such popular festival hits as the Palme D’or winning Timecode, Reka Bucsi’s exceedingly popular animation Love and Ena Sendijarevic’s timely Import.

The winner of the 2016 Short of the Year was Daniel Mulloy’s Home. The UK / Kosovan co-production has continually wowed audiences across the festival circuit and beyond, taking home numerous prizes. Indeed, the Short of the Year began a brilliant week for Mulloy and the film which would subsequently take home a Special Jury Prize at Clermont and the BAFTA for Best Live Action Short Film.

Daniel Mulloy was on hand to accept the award from Short Film Conference members.

"I think the fact that all of your festivals show films from all over the world gives filmmakers from everywhere on the planet the chance to really express their voice to audiences in other places and I think that's incredibly special, so thank you so much for that. And thank you so much for this award, it means a great deal. Thank you."

Voting for the Short of the Year was open to official members of the Short Film Conference who include Encounters, Winterthur, Brazil and Flickerfest in Australia.
