68th Cannes Festival announces short film and Cinéfondation competition titles

As the film world waits for the Official Feature Film Selection of Cannes to be announced on 16th April, the 68th Festival De Cannes have revealed the short films for that will take part in its Short Films Competition and the Cinéfondation section.

In the Short Film Competition, the UK has two short films represented with Dan Hodgson’s Love Is Blind and Eva Riley’s Patriot while films from France and Belgium are also present in the selection. Australian director Shane Danielsen – a former Artistic Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival – will also take part in the competition with his film The Guests. The selection committee received 4,550 short films from over 100 countries.

The Cinéfondation Selection celebrates shorts from film schools from across the world and this year shorts from French, UK, Belgian, Spanish (the first time a Spanish film school has been selected) and Czech film schools - amongst many others - will screen at the festival. 1600 films were submitted

The Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury will be chaired by director Abderrahmane Sissako. The three Cinéfondation prizes will be awarded at a ceremony preceding the screening of the Prize-Winning films on Friday 22nd May.
