Encounters to launch with Best of BUG

Adam Buxton’s Best of BUG: The Evolution of Music Video will kick off the 23rd Encounters Film Festival 2017 on Tuesday 19th September. The event – to be held in Bristol’s Colston Hall, one of the most historic concert venues in the British city - will be the start of five days of short films, animation and industry events.

Best of BUG: The Evolution of Music Video will provide and an evening of awe-inspiring music videos, astounding online nuggets and a unique brand of sit-down comedy with Adam Buxton, known in the UK as a comedian, writer and broadcaster. First aired in April 2007 at the BFI Southbank, the BUG shows have become a mainstay of the BFI’s programming and also been screened on British television.

Buxton first made his name alongside Joe Cornish in the parody review classic The Adam and Joe Show. When the pair moved to radio station BBC 6 Music they won numerous awards and became one of the station’s most highly-rated programmes. Adam has his own podcast series which is proving equally popular.

The special show will feature a selection of some of the most popular videos from recent BUG shows with Adam’s hilarious presentation mixed with some delightfully unbalanced commentary from YouTube users. Audience members are promised outstanding clips rarely seen on the big screen, some true gems dug from the web and hilarious insights into the online community. Tickets are available now from http://www.colstonhall.org.

Encounters remains one of the most important short film festivals in the UK and the world, being a Cartoon d’Or, Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying festival. It also nominates a film for the European Film Awards. The full programme will be announced on August 2nd.
